Britain's hopes of taking down the PokerStars EPT Prague Main Event for a second successive year rest on the shoulders of one man, Chris “Moorman1” Moorman. Online poker's most prolific and profitable tournament player will return to his seat at 1200 CET armed with 557,000 chips, enough to put him in 18th place with 31 players remaining.
Amazingly this is Moorman's first-ever cash in a European Poker Tour Main Event and although he is now guaranteed to take home at least €17,000 we know he will be bitterly disappointed not to go all the way and scoop the title and the massive €775,000 first place prize, doing so would get the monkey off his back and see the popular Brit win his first major title in the live arena.
Moorman is certainly in form too coming off the back of an extremely successful World Series of Poker where he cashed five times, reached two final tables including a third and second place finish in two of the tournament's toughest events. He followed up that success by finishing as runner-up to Elio Fox in the WSOPE Main Event, a result t hat added €800,000 to his bankroll.
Although Moorman will not fear anyone at the felt he cannot be too happy with his seat draw as he starts Day 4 in Sat 2 on Table 4 with the likes of Mike “Timex” McDonald (740,000), Ignat “0human0” Liviu (278,000) and Martin Finger (1,289,000) for company. But Moorman will almost certainly have played many hands with each of those players and as we say he will not be playing scared when he sits down.
Special mentions go out to Max Silver (99th), Liv Boeree (83rd), Rupert Elder (62nd) and Martins Adeniya (50th) for making it into the money places showing the UK is still a force in this game.
